Connections' History
Connections Multisensory Learning Center is a tutoring center that focuses on CONNECTING your child to learning. We specialize in 1 to 1 intensive remediation in reading and spelling using strategies from the Orton-Gillingham reading method. This method teaches children the basic “rules” of our language and how to decode and encode successfully. Our one-on-one tutors have dedicated themselves to two or more years of intensive training in this program in order to learn how to help students meet their individual learning needs. We know that no two children are alike, and we will tailor a learning plan to help meet their unique needs and bridge the learning gap. Students will undergo an individual, intensive assessment and their proctor will confer with another trained teacher to ensure that they are creating the best plan for them. These tutor “Connectors” as we call them, continually collaborate with others “Connectors” to help reach each and every student that comes through our doors.
We will also offer monthly Mommy/Daddy and me workshops and parent workshops to help parents learn how to help their child using multisensory methods at home.
Coming soon: Multisensory STEM workshops, Multisensory math workshops/tutoring and teacher workshops!
We hope to CONNECT with you soon!

Erika Kelly
Erika enjoyed teaching struggling readers and writers, but she struggled to find direct methods to help them bridge the learning gap. To help these students, Erika decided to continue her education and signed up for the rigorous 2 year Orton-Gillingham training through FDU. She found it to be eye-opening and continued her education to include Orton-Gillingham teacher training as well. This area soon became her passion because she saw the amazing results that multisensory methods yielded with struggling learners. Erika has run a Saturday Multisensory Reading program through Cranford and she went on to teach 3 cohorts of teachers through FDU.
After having 2 children of her own, Erika decided that she wanted to help elementary students use this method full time, so she transferred to a K-2 school in 2016 and she now works daily with students using these methods. She also has 15+ years of tutoring experience, tutoring anywhere from early literacy skills to College essay writing. Erika now specializes in K-3 multisensory tutoring because she knows that these are the very crucial learning years and the most assistance is needed. She prides herself in hiring only the most qualified tutors with the best experience in this specialized field.
Erika resides in Cranford with her husband and 2 children. This is not only her profession but her passion, and she wants to help as many students as possible succeed in their own individual way.
